Cyprus combines year-round city hospitality with a larger coastal season. The right preparation depends on your citizenship, the role, the location and whether accommodation is part of the offer.
Start with your right to work
EU and EEA citizens generally follow a different process from people arriving from outside the EU. Do not assume that a tourist entry, residence status or another employer’s permit allows you to begin a new job.
Ask the employer who handles registration or permit steps, which documents are needed, who pays any official fees and whether you may legally start before the process is complete. Verify the answer with the relevant Cyprus authority when your status is unclear.
Read the whole offer, not only the salary
Request the proposed contract or written terms before travelling. Check gross pay, expected net deductions, working days, weekly hours, split shifts, overtime, probation, notice, meals, transport and the exact contract dates.
If accommodation is included, ask for the address or area, room type, number of occupants, monthly deduction, deposit, utilities, transport to work and what happens to the room when employment ends.
Plan the first month
Keep enough money for travel, food, local transport, a SIM card and unexpected housing costs until the first payroll date. Never send money to a personal account simply to secure an interview or vacancy.
Keep copies of the vacancy, offer, contract, passport pages and important messages. Share the employer and accommodation details with someone you trust, and know how to contact local emergency and labour-support services.
